How long have you been training Dogs professionally?
I am on my 3rd year of training professionally at The Social Pup.
What courses have you completed?
I have completed several courses through Canine Foundations, Georgian College and more. These courses included: Canine Attendant Training (2019) and Canine Emergency First Aid (2019). I also completed a strenuous 10 month credited training program, requiring over 225 practical hours of experience through Canine Training Academy at Georgian Collage (2021) In addition, I have continued to increase my knowledge & experience in Behaviour Adjustment Therapy (BAT) via online course with Grisha Stewart (2022,2023).
Why did you become a dog trainer:
I come from a long line of Dutch farmers and working with animals is in my blood. Dog training was the first career that seemed to come so easy and natural to me. I enjoy helping people communicate with their dogs and build relationships with the canine world. Seeing a dog succeed brings me much fulfilment. I may not live on a farm today, but like most of my clients, enjoying a well-behaved animal companion in my home brings me so much joy.
Group Classes I offer:
Loose Leash / Leash Manners
Level 2 Obedience
Level 2 Trick Training
Puppy Basics 101
What are your Areas of Specialization:
My areas of specialty are one-on-one obedience training. Whether you are dealing with basic puppy behaviour or aggression of any type, I am your girl. My training in LIMA (least intrusive, minimally adverse) and Behaviour Adjustment Therapy allows me to take a scientific, compassionate approach to changing unwanted behaviour.
My vision statement:
As a professional dog trainer my goal is to help you and your pet build trust, love and respect for one another. I use humane techniques as I believe they work more effectively than adversarial discipline and build lasting respect and trust. Above all, I value the health and safety of every animal I help. I will help you build a balanced routine that meets the animalistic need of your pet. I will also teach you the necessary communication skills to effectively communicate with them. I value my clients time and will build a program that is as efficient as it is effective.
I also understand that everyone learns differently. I will help you set realistic goals and develop creative ways to navigate client's specific needs. Thank you for choosing me as your dog trainer.

Why did you become a dog trainer?
I originally wanted to be a grade school teacher; however I came to the realization that I can combine my love of teaching with my love of animals! Once of my instructors told me to bring this 15-week-old lab puppy into a quiet space and try to get him to sit. When I was able to teach him to sit, it was that moment that I realized that I wanted to be a dog trainer. It made me so happy. I love being a dog trainer, because it gives me a sense of accomplishment to know that I am helping owners to build a better bond with their fur babies, and be able to communicate with them better.
What are your Areas of Specialization
I offer both Group Classes (Level 1 Obedience) and Private Lessons.
Private lessons: I have experience in dealing with leash walking (pulling), leash reactivities (barking), resource guarding, jumping, excessive barking, nipping and biting, and level one obedience in a zero-distraction environment.
If you have any questions or would like to schedule Private Lesson, you can contact me at kaylee@socialpup.ca
