Dog Daycare Specialist

The Dog Care Specialist is responsible for the supervision, control and management of daycare dogs and ensuring the safety of the playgroup. The Dog Care Specialist is also responsible for the maintenance and cleaning of the playrooms as well as other areas of the facility as assigned.


Dog Management

  • Interact with dogs in playgroups using appropriate toys and tools to ensure safe levels of play and minimizing stress levels of all dogs in playgroup
  • Maintain visual observation of dogs at all times and spread attention and play among all dogs in playgroup
  • Control level of play by following dog management and control procedures and instructions provided by management
  • Use proper dog handling techniques as instructed by management
  • Use proper dog introduction procedures
  • Use appropriate praise and dog correction methods
  • Ensure you know all dogs in playgroup and can properly identify them. If not, request assistance from other staff or management
  • Watch all new dogs carefully and immediately consult with management if you have
    concerns
  • For all dogs in playgroup, report any unusual behavior, or eliminations and injuries to
    management immediately
  • Maintain playroom as instructed per the posted checklist
  • Ensure that all staff that relieve you for break or shift change know all dogs in group, the special needs dog status and any unusual behaviors or concerns you have been
    managing during your shift
  • Review daily schedule and adhere to it
  • Complete dog incident reports timely when required. If you are not sure whether a
    report is required check with management
  • Walk dogs as per daily schedule using proper dog walking techniques (must pick up fecal matter immediately)


Cleaning Duties include but are not limited to

  • Complete general cleaning duties as posted or assigned
  • Scoop dog waste immediately and dispose of it as instructed
  • Mop up accidents immediately
  • Dust mopping/wet mopping floors as assigned.
  • Removing trash from containers
  • Disinfect outside area
  • Changing/Laundering linen
  • Cleaning water bowls, kongs, and other toys
  • Perform deep cleans once per month as scheduled
  • All closing cleaning duties (i.e. vacuum, floors, spray/water down outside area, take out trash, wash dishes, wipe down equipment, & more!)


Front of House duties include but are not limited to

  • Greeting customers and bringing dogs into playroom
  • Managing client bookings (new or existing)
  • Selling / Upselling products & services
  • Retail Point-of-Sale
  • Retail Management / Inventory
  • Handling payments
  • Tracking dog attendance as needed
  • Answering phones as needed
  • Other general admin duties as needed


Education
Minimum Experience, Skills, Certification or Academic Background Required

  • High school graduate or GED preferred
  • Good oral communication skills
  • Previous work experience demonstrating dependability
  • Previous experience providing animal care (personal or job related)
  • Previous experience in a Customer Service field (retail, serving, etc.)
  • Self motivated, independent worker
  • Proven ability to follow instructions and learn new things
  • Ability to work in a team environment

Dog Groomer

As a Pet Stylist in our Grooming Salon, you’ll have the opportunity to build personal relationships with your clients, both human and pet. You are responsible to know their pets’ styles and personalities to create a customized and stylish experience.


  • Perform grooming services including: clipping, combing, trimming, hand scissoring, medicated and general cleansing, parasite control baths, blow dry, pawdicures, and ear cleansing, etc.
  • Perform grooming as requested for each pet using knowledge of canine characteristics, techniques and styles: Reads written or receives oral instructions to determine clipping pattern desired
  • Ability and stamina to groom several dogs per day and perform pet bathing, treatments, and other specialty grooming services in a facility dedicated to the health and well-being of our best friends
  • Use proper dog introduction procedures
  • Use appropriate praise and dog correction methods
  • Complete dog incident reports timely when required. If you are not sure whether a report is required check with management
  • Complete grooming report card & email to customer (if applicable)
  • Other duties as may arise from time to time and as may be assigned to the employee

Minimum Experience, Skills, Certification or Academic Background Required

  • Grooming certification or equivalent work experience:
    Canadian Canine Bather Technician (CCBT1) – a certified bather/dryer
    Canadian Canine Intermediate Stylist Technician (CCST1-Int) – a Certified Pet Groomer 
  • Canadian Canine Stylist (CCS2) – you are a Certified Groomer
  • Good oral communication skills
  • Previous work experience demonstrating dependability
  • Previous experience providing animal care (personal or job related)
  • Self motivated, independent worker
  • Proven ability to follow instructions and learn new things
  • Ability to work in a team environmen
